KEIUN (kay-oon) scissors are a high-end Japanese brand from Sanjo, Japan, an area of Japan famous globally for its excellence in metallurgy and smithing. All of our products are made with quality Damascus steel that is hand-forged on site from high-grade materials. Crafting reliable and durable Damascus takes time and meticulous attention to detail. Like any artisinal craft, that kind of integrity comes at a premium price which is directly reflected in the quality and performance of our scissors.

Absolutely, all of our products and materials are hand-forged in Sanjo, Japan from genuine Japanese quality material.

All of our scissors are made with Japanese quality forged Damascus steel, a metal recognized by its beautiful flowing patterns and prized for its flexiblity and tensile strength. All of our blades are made from cobalt steel, a high-performance alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion and wear. Each and every one of our scissors, not unlike a fingerprint, has a pattern that is truly unique to every piece.

We refuse to compromise on quality and as such, all of our products are crafted with hand-forged Damascus to produce the watery pattern of light and dark waves all the way through the metals.

Yes, as with any high-quality scissor proper care and maintenance is paramount to ensuring the longevity and performance of your peice. Please see our "Maintenance"(undefined) section under "Learn" for more information.

Although sharpening needs may vary depending on the type of hair you frequently work with (coarse, fine, etcetera) and the type of styling you do, KEIUN scissors are recommended to be sharpened every 1000-2000 cuts.

You may at your discretion, employ any sharpener of your choosing. However, an inexperienced or ill-equiped sharpener may run the risk of damaging this unique blade. We import our product directly from Sanjo, Japan and operate out of Stouffville, ON, Canada. I.R.M.Consultants Inc. is the only authorized representative of YAMAMURA Manufacturing Co.,Ltd. within Canada.
